Last fall, my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis.  The school nurse advised us to tell our pediatrician.  At that time, I was seeing Mike O’Quin with Family Rehab and Medical Massage.  He asked that I bring her in.

Mike told me that she needs to stretch her lower back, and also to strengthen the lower back muscles.  He felt that her muscles were causing her spine to shift.  He also thought a posture brace, worn at night, would help.

After seeing Mike, we later went to our pediatrician.  She said exactly the same things as Mike!  She said there was about a 12-15% curvature of the spine, and that we would need to watch it over time to make sure it doesn’t get worse, which would require a hard brace and possibly surgery.

My daughter has been going to Mike for the AIS stretching for three months.  One of her sides was much “tighter” than the other side, and Mike has been able to work out the muscles, making it more even.  She is also wearing the brace, and doing strengthening training.  Last month, my daughter’s school did a screening for all the 6th graders to check for scoliosis.  My daughter now does NOT have a curvature that required them sending a note home!  Several of her friends received those notes from the nurse, but my daughter came home and was extremely excited.  We cannot believe the difference the AIS stretching has made!  My 10 year old daughter is now going to Mike for the stretching as well.   Our entire family is very happy with Mike’s services, and we recommend him to everyone!

Thank you so much Mike!

Since seeing Mike for AIS, I am more flexible than I have been in over twenty years. Now I can stretch without pain when I work out. Thanks to Mike my stiff and painful hips and shoulders are history! I recommend Mike to my friends and family with total confidence.

A Very Happy Client!

In May, 1994 without prior symptoms...........suffered a heart attack and massive stroke resulting in the entire left side of my body being totally paralyzed.

After months of extensive traditional physical therapy/rehab, I was able to regain limited use of my left leg, but the left arm remained tin total and complete paralysis. During the next few years  I tried many different treatment plans including deep tissue  work, bio-feedback, and even surgical implant of a medtronic pump device to administer continual dosage of the muscle relaxer, baclafen.  This procedure did very little to relieve the muscle spasms that I experienced on a regular basis, and actually caused my balance to worsen to the point that I had to go back to using a walker or cane tin order to walk............

Needless to say, I returned to the hospital for another surgery and had that pump device removed....That was in Feb, 2005, and slowly I began to regain balance enough to walk without assistance,, but still had the problem of severe muscle spasms and atrophy in my left arm.  The left arm had actually drawn up so that it was frozen in spastic paralysis at a 90 degree angle and was positioned just below the breastbone area.

Since beginning treatment at Family Rehab & Medical Massage this past January (2008),I have not experienced the muscle spasms that I did before, and have been able to stop the oral baclafen muscle relaxers that I had begun using after having the pump removed. There has also been a noticeable change in the position of my left arm, as it has dropped considerably, and is now in a more natural/normal position. I am very pleased and excited about the measurable progress that I am making, and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to work with Mike O'Quin. I would certainly not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone. Along with his knowledge and expertise, and experience, he also is both professional and personable. I can say without reservation the quality of my life continues  to improve with each session.

I am a 62 year old female with scoliosis and a tilted pelvis. I have been in constant pain for four years. I have spent thousands of dollars on chiropractic care with no relief from pain. After only two weeks of muscle therapy (message and stretching) from Dr. Mike (my angel in Webster, Texas), I had relief from pain. After only two months, I have so much hope that I will not spend the rest of my life suffering as I have for the past four years. For the past week, I have been able to keep my four year old granddaughter, something I was not able to do before.

She also has enjoyed this week, getting a massage from Dr. Mike and "sharing apples" with Nurse Kathy. I am so thankful for the day I left my chiropractor for good because he admittedly would never be able to give me permanent help. He tells all his patients with scoliosis that they will have to have chiropractic care for the rest of their life. I have no insurance and could not afford that so there was never any light at the end of the dark tunnel. He was telling the truth because without muscle therapy there is no permanent help. Dr. Mike and his team are the most commited people to helping others that I have ever experienced. I am eternally grateful.

Sincerely,
Janice Lawrence

I've wrestled with tightness for most of my life, especially in my legs. Several years ago, my shoulders became very tight courtesy of an unplanned aikido roll down a ski slope! I could not bring my upraised arms (especially the right arm) closer than several inches from my ears. Swimming is my primary exercise, so this slowed me down. The tightness didn't help my Pilates work either!

Mike profoundly helped my flexibility. In particular, how Mike restored full mobility to my shoulders is a miracle to me (wish I had a 'before & after' picture)! It also feels great to be able to touch the ground! My swimming improved significantly, and I am able to attempt more advanced Pilates exercises. Other people I workout with notices the improvement!

I heartily recommend Mike when I have the opportunity (and keep one of his business cards handy)!

Thank you Mike!

Mike ,

Just wanted to thank you and also let people know how remarkable we think you are. Our daughter is 17 and is a softball pitcher. She has over the last few months developed shoulder pain in her right arm. She continued trying to pitch even though she was in alot of pain and she would have numbness and swelling all the way down to her fingers. We did what any parent would do -- take her to an orthopedic specializing in shoulders; thank the Lord, nothing was torn but he did say it would take time. She would need to rest and build the area around with stretches. Katie did everything she was supposed and would ice and has taken so many ibuprofen it wasn't funny, but the arm would not get better. A good friend of our suggested we see Mike and on the first day Katie called me and told me after he worked on her for just a few minutes she already had feeling back in her fingers that she hasn't felt in a long time. She came home that night and was able to move her arm without any pain. Since then she has pitched a nine inning game and was near perfect. She said she felt better than she had felt in so long. He will continue to work with her. I wished we would have known about him earlier. I have hated to see her in pain and I knew she wouldn't stop because pitching has been her dream and she is ready to head to college and continue what she has worked so hard for.

Thank You Mike for working with our daughter I will tell everyone I know that you are the one to see. I wish all highschool trainers and coaches knew about you and the work you are doing!

Debra M.
